It was developed in the 1970s and 1980s, bordered by retail stores and apartments on Westheimer Rd and S. Dairy Ashford Rd. Note Sections Five and Six are between Westheimer and Richmond, so are in the northern part of Ashford Park.
"Section Six" is single family homes, mostly home-owners with some tenants. Owner/tenant mix is changing with demand for quality housing from growing Energy Corridor Business District a mile north. Interesting factoid: our homes cost less per sq. ft. than similar ones just north of Westheimer in subdivisions built at the same time. So better value, same quality! We are in Alief School District.
The area is well served by frequent Metro bus service on both Westheimer and S. Dairy Ashford. Use the interactive TripPlanner website to find out when the next bus leaves to go where you choose.
South of Ashford Park is Westpark Tollway: this is EZ tag only. See costs for eastbound & westbound
We are fortunate to not suffer from violent crime in our residential neighborhood, but just like any place in Houston, burglars do try to take opportunity of stealing things they see on car seats, and more likely break into homes that don't have a security system. Our crime statistics are available by Police District and Beat: we are 20G70. Also available in a useful map form on SpotCrime
The immediate neighborhood has Westheimer Commons shopping center diagonally across Westheimer and S Dairy Ashford, anchored by Fiesta and Walgreens. All along Westheimer there are many places to dine or relax, and also on S Dairy Ashford places that offer repair services. Two nearest large malls are West Oaks Mall (Hwy 6 at Westheimer) and Center City in Town & Country Village (Tollway 8 and I-10). Want to explore more broadly?
